HPC2N
High Performance Computing Center North
There has been an interest among some R users to get started in the fields of Machine Learning (ML) and High Performance Computing (HPC). R, being a programming language for data science, already has a wide variety of packages for ML available which can potentially benefit from HPC. In the present course, you will learn the basics of ML algorithms and how to program them in R. As realistic ML models are computationally demanding when running on a Desktop, we will also teach you how to run these models on Kebnekaise, a HPC cluster at our center.
Requirements: Basic knowledge of R, Linux
Date: 2019-12-03
Time: 9:00-17:00

NOTE This is an old course and some of the scripts specific for Kebnekaise are no longer valid and have thus been removed. You may find some similar examples for that part in the newer course "Using R in an HPC environment", though that is not focused specifically on Machine Learning.
Coffee and tea will be provided. Please bring a laptop for the hands-on.
Please fill in the below form to sign up. All fields marked with * are required. ALL SEATS TAKEN! REGISTRATION CLOSED! Please email bbrydsoe@cs.umu.se to get put on a waiting list, in case seats open up.
