Electrical maintenance in one computer room June 14th

On June 14th maintenance on the electrical feed to our cluster computer room will be performed.

We estimate this to start at 09:00 on June 14th and be finished during the afternoon.

Akka and Ritsem will be turned off completely during this maintenance window. Jobs that have a walltime extending into the above time frame will not be allowed to start. This means that during the days leading up to the time frame Akka will seemingly have free nodes available but jobs will will not start.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Systems now back in production

Akka and Ritsem are now back in production efter the maintenance.

There are still some upgrades in progress on the batch nodes of Akka which will cause gaps in the batch system.
We will work as fast as possible to finish these upgrades.

During May 2nd to 10th there will be an electrical maintenance in one of
our computer rooms.

This is due to an upgrade of the electrical facilities to accommodate our
new cluster.

Akka, Ritsem and Sarek will be turned off completely, including login
nodes, during the whole period. Jobs that have a walltime extending into
the above time frame will not be allowed to start.
This means that during the days leading up to the time frame Akka will
seemingly have free nodes available but jobs will will not start.

The Batch-system works normally again

Power failure on Akka and Ritsem

We had an power outage affecting Akka and Ritsem around 14.30. All jobs running on Akka and Ritsem were lost.

We are working on getting everything up and running again.

Home directories working again

Problems with home directories

We are currently experiencing transient problems with access to the home directories located in our AFS. This is due to restart of the AFS server. We expect to be back in service within a couple of hours.

Sarek blocked due to emergency work on cooling system.

Sarek is blocked from starting new jobs due to a problem with the cooling system that will need an emergency repair.

(This does NOT affect Akka which is located in a different room.)

Short power failure on Akka and Ritsem (2011-01-07)

Due to a power failure in Umeå on January Friday 7th around 00:10, affecting the University and surronding areas, we lost all running jobs on Akka and Ritsem.

The power came back a little while later and everything is up and running again.
