A LUMI Benchmark and Development call is now open

The purpose of the LUMI Benchmark and Development calls is to support researchers and HPC application developers by giving them the opportunity to develop, test, optimise and benchmark their applications on the upcoming/available LUMI system prior to applying for a regular LUMI Sweden project.

To apply, you must be a scientist in Swedish academia, at least at the level of assistant professor. Normally previous experience from NAISS Medium/Large Compute projects, or equivalent, is required.

This call will be open until 31 December 2023. A similar call will follow for 2024.

Proposals submitted at the latest on the 15th will undergo review during the same month. July and December have different schedules. Proposals submitted after June 15 will be processed in August. I.e. with a first possible allocation starting September 1st. Proposals submitted in December will be processed in January the following year.

Proposals will be reviewed by the National Allocation Committee Working Group (NAC WG) members.

Allocation periods

The maximum duration of an allocation is one year.

How to apply

NAISS uses an online proposal system for all allocations on NAISS resources as well as LUMI Sweden located at: https://supr.naiss.se/.

A direct link to the call is: https://supr.naiss.se/round/lumism2023/.

We encourage you to read the instructions on the proposal form carefully before submitting your proposal.

Remember to request both compute (CPU or GPU) and storage allocations in the same proposal.

If you apply for:

  • benchmarking, describe the size, number of cores/GPUs and estimated wall clock time, of the jobs that you plan to test. Wide jobs, more than 500 nodes, can only be run after contact with the help desk.
  • development work, describe the programming language, compilers, libraries, etc that you will need and how your software will be deployed. For example do you need to run containers?
  • regular access, include scaling/performance figures and motivate why you need to run at larger scale than what is normally possible on regular NAISS systems.

Please also note:

  • NAISS explicitly requests the acknowledgement of NAISS in scientific publications that have required the use of NAISS or LUMI Sweden resources, services, or expertise.
Papers, presentations, and other publications that feature work that relied on NAISS or LUMI Sweden should include an acknowledgement. For more information, visit the NAISS website: https://www.naiss.se/policies/acknowledge/
  • While in the SUPR portal, please review your personal information to ensure that you have filled out all mandatory fields.
