High Performance Computing II (HPCII)

The course focuses on three themes:

  1. General HPC techniques
  2. Fundamental parallel algorithms
  3. HPC library software and tools

One of the lecturers will be Jose Roman, Associate Professor (TU), Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (UPV).
He will lecture on PETSc and SLEPc followed by hands on exercises.

PETSc: Portable, Extensible, Toolkit for Scientific Computing
SLEPc: Scalable Library for Eigenvalue Computations

This course is given in collaboration between HPC2N and Department of Computing Science, Umeå University.

Prerequisites

Basic understanding of parallel computer architectures and practical skills in parallel programming using OpenMP and MPI as well as introductory linear algebra and numerical methods.

Travel and accomodation

Note that you need to contact the hotel and make the room reservations yourself.

We are located in the MIT-building on the Umeå University Campus (see map, search for MIT-huset).

For travel and hotel information see http://www.visitumea.se/. The closest hotel is Hotel Björken, located nearby (300m) the MIT-building. Hotel Björken also acts as a patient hotel serving visitors to the University hospital (you may be relocated to another hotel if there are many patients).
