HPC2N
High Performance Computing Center North
This 3-hour ONLINE course is an introduction to the Linux operating system (OS) that is used on most Swedish compute clusters, and is the most common OS in HPC clusters all over the planet. The course will consist of lectures, code-alongs, and interspersed exercises.
This NAISS course is meant for beginners to the Linux operating system.
Eligibility: the NAISS course is open to current and future users in Swedish academia. Participation is free.
Remote/online participation: The course will be completely online and we will use Zoom. The participants will use their own computer or a computer system they have access to. There will be an option to use Tetralith for the course if participants do not have access to another system that run Linux. In that case, more information about getting accounts, connecting and such will be sent to the participant.

Recorded lectures: TBA
Prerequsites: access to a Linux system. There will be a course project that can be used for those who do not already have access to a Linux-based system. You can also use your own laptop if you have Linux installed on it.
NOTE: If you need to use the course project for access to a Linux system, please make sure you have an account at SUPR. If you don't have an account at SUPR and/or a Swedish HPC system, you will be contacted with further instructions for how to create those. If you need to use the course project access, then you are strongly encouraged to sign up to SUPR as soon as possible after registering for the course, as the process can be somewhat slow (if you do not have SWAMID you need to sign their User Agreement on a paper form and send it with a copy of your passport to SUPR).
The course uses computing resources provided by the National Academic Infrastructure for Supercomputing in Sweden (NAISS), partially funded by the Swedish Research Council through grant agreement no. 2022-06725.
Time and date: 21 January 2025, 09:00-12:00
