Selecting modules

This course is given under NAISS, by staff working at the branches located at LUNARC and HPC2N.

In this 2-hour, ONLINE workshop you will learn about the module system used at most NAISS centres, how to find out if a specific software is installed as a module, as well as how to load it and (briefly) how to use it in batch jobs.

NOTE: If you already have an account and access to a Swedish HPC centre that runs Lmod modules (most/all NAISS systems as well as many local systems), then you can use that. Otherwise it will be possible to run on either Tetralith (NSC) or Dardel (PDC) for this course.

Prerequisites: Basic Linux knowledge (list files, change directories)

Eligibility: the NAISS course is open to current and future users in Swedish academia. Participation is free.

Remote/online participation: The course will be completely online and we will use Zoom. The participants will mainly use a computer system they have access to.

Topics

  • The module system (Lmod)
  • Useful commands of the module system
  • Load examples
  • Compiler toolchains
  • Program examples

NOTE that the lectures (but not the exercises) will be recorded and uploaded to HPC2N's YouTube channel.
